When it comes to birthdays, this idea makes gift giving so much easier. And the beauty is, the theme can go on for years – it starts a little tongue in check and turns into gifts that really make your daughter a young woman.
So when gift giving, what are the gifts your daughter is pining for in order to become more of the lady she wants to be?
1. Handbags
Start off with a handbag. This will be the item she carries all future items around in. As a young child, she wants something pretty, so head to the toy or children’s section and pick out something in her favourite colour, with lots of zips and pouches – include a matching purse if you can find it. Before you know it, she’ll be strutting down to the shops with you, handbag clad, your loose change jangling as she walks.
As she gets older, your handbag choice can graduate from the kids section to something more elegant, larger to hold all her gadgets, leather to last through the tough times, and even in a nice design from a renowned brand. Regardless of the age, you’ll be a winner if you get the right handbag.
2. Makeup
Likewise, makeup is something that will grow up with her. As a child, a play set, with tiny lipstick, eye shadow, nail polish and other bits and pieces will let her feel grown up, like mummy. As she gets older, the makeup will become a little less focused – no more lipstick all over the face – and a little more intense. At this stage, instead of a play set, a voucher for a makeup brand is a great option.
3. High heels
They are a favourite of girls of all ages – they make little girls feel like princesses, and older women feel beautiful. For your little daughter, head to the kids’ section or the children’s clothing and you can find play heels – little plastic shoes with glitter and feathers. For the older girl, a voucher to her favourite shoe store will make you a winner!
4. Jewelry
Every female loves jewellery – partly because it’s beautiful, partly because it is simply a special gift that lets them know they are important to you. For little girls, the girls’ clothing and accessories sections of stores will have lots of beads, trinkets, rings and clip on earrings for ‘dressing up’. As they get older, a special piece of jewellery to mark special occasions, such as 16th or 18th birthdays will give your daughter a real sense of being special.
