So when it comes to home organization, where do you start? You can have big goals or little goals. I have both. In the big picture I want more organization everywhere. For little things, I want to organize my house room-by-room, organize my finances by incorporating a budget and updated my filling system, and more organized for all personal activities. If you have a big goal, what can you do to make it smaller? Like me, wanting a fully organized house is a big goal. But if I break it up room-by-room it actually seems obtainable.
I have moved so much in the past where it came to a point I was just moving boxes, and to be honest I don’t have a clue what’s in half of them. Some of them have not been unpacked from one or two moves ago. In that time I am preparing to have my boyfriend move in and we will be combining two households which is that much more stuff to go through. What about all the baby/kids things that you may have laying around? I know I have a lot of the boys smaller cloths that I need to go through and giveaway or toss. Fortunately I have people interested in them, so it’s just a matter of packing it up and getting it out. When I thought I was done having children I had gotten rid of all my baby stuff. It took me a long time to get to that point though. And here I am growing that collection again. Do you have things you should be going through. Maybe they should be re-packed better, or tossed or given away. Some might even be able to be sold and make some money back on.
Together lets set a weekly goal. I’m going to start with a very easy goal to start. No point in starting to big or no one will want to do it - and it’s something I need to get done myself. A calendar. It doesn’t matter what kind. There are lots out there. You can have one on your computer or maybe on your phone. Maybe you have one up on the fridge. Is it up-to-date? Mine isn’t. Does it include everyone in the house hold? Keep in mind pets. Do they have vet appointments coming up or maybe puppy classes. Do you have your kids listed. Do any of them have appointments or classes that should be on there. This time of year is a big time for field trips so make sure to mark them down as well. I also make sure to include my significant other. This way if he has something going on everyone knows so it can be worked around as needed. So here is the goal, update or start a calendar.
