Why not pamper dad with breakfast in bed. Yes the kids will be jumping on him and getting maple syrup on the bedspread, but it will be worth it. These fun pancakes come together with only two ingredients! Of course you will want to top them with lots of maple syrup and serve some crispy bacon on the side. I save time often, and buy my bacon fully cooked from the store. No grease mess, and with only two minutes in the microwave you will have tasty crispy bacon.
Now these pancakes are going to be extra special because not only will they be made with love but they will have one other secret ingredient in them, hot chocolate. We are going to use an instant packet of hot chocolate to give some of the batter a nice chocolate flavor and color. We will use this darker batter to make the pancake say # 1 dad! Of course you could make these pancakes any day of the week, and have them say what ever you like.
What you will need for approximately 4 servings:
3 cups of Complete Pancake and Waffle Mix
1 packet of instant hot chocolate mix
Maple syrup or pancake syrup
Butter (optional)
Plastic Condiment Bottle (I couldn't find mine, so I used a plastic zip lock bag, but the bottle would make them look nicer)
Follow package directions on box for preparing batter, for me that meant adding 2 cups of water to the mix. Mix until lumps break up. Then take 1 cup of batter and mix it with your dry packet of instant hot chocolate mix. Then pour it into your plastic condiment bottle.
Preheat an electric non stick skillet to 375 F degrees. When small droplets of water sizzle, then disappear your griddle is hot enough. Start making your pancakes by pouring out the regular batter, making a large pancake, then use chocolate batter to write on pancake what every you like. It's time to flip the pancake when it looks like a sponge with lots of bubbles. You could also serve these more like a dessert with whipped cream, hot chocolate sauce, and maybe some mini chocolate chips on the side.
Now for dinner why not avoid the crowded restaurants and make dad a spectacular steak house inspired dinner at home. This Grilled New York Steak topped with Creamy Sauteed Mushrooms, Onions and Swiss is sure to be a meal Dad won't forget. With my grilling tips, you will have a perfectly grilled steak, and this five star dinner ready in less then an hour.
Lay Pop'ems out like shown above.
If dad has room for dessert after this feast, maybe end the special day with a sweet Father's Day treat. How about this Cookies n Cream Ice Cream Cake Pie!
My husband like many people loves cookies n cream ice cream. Since it is summer time (finally) I thought I would make a fun cold treat. This ones for my special husband, who I love very much!
Instead of baking a cake, I used store bought Devil's Food Glazed Pop'ems to save time.
What you will need for approximately 12 generous servings:
6 oz. Oreo Pie Crust
1 egg
3 Chocolate Snack Pack Pudding Cups, I used Sugar Free and Fat Free
1 1/2 QT. Light Cookies n Cream Ice Cream
21 count Entenmann's Brand Devil's Food Glazed Holes Pop'ems
17 count Peanut Butter Oreo Fudge Cremes Cookies
2 packages New Oreo Ultimate Icing Original Creme (I used about 1 1/2 packages to decorate)
Optional (1 white Betty Crocker Decorating Cookie Icing tube)
Preheat oven to 375 F degrees. Brush pie crust with whisked egg white and bake for 5 minutes, according to package directions.
Let pie crust cool completely. Then move it to a glass round 2 qt baker. Spoon two snack packages of pudding into the bottom of the pie crust. Then add Pop'ems on top of pudding. Next top with your ice cream. I left ice cream out a bit to soften first and make spreading evenly easy. Then spread on top of ice cream your last package of pudding. Then top with Oreo Fudge Creme cookies. Then decorate with your Oreo Icing. Note I did not have a tip that fit tube, so your icing will probably look nicer then mine. Then top it off with one more cookie. Optional, first decorate cookie to say Dad or what ever you like.
Would have looked a little nicer if one of my 500 tips had fit the Oreo Icing Tubes.
Store in freezer until ready to serve.
I hope you have enjoyed my tasty Father's Day Menu Plan.
