El Monterey is the maker of several varieties of Mexican entrees including burritos, chimichangas, taquitos, tamales, quesadillas and enchiladas. Recently, I received three family size enchiladas dinners from the makers of El Monterey and asked to give my opinion of their meals.
My family and I received the spicy beef, chicken and cheese family size enchilada dinners. The spicy and cheese enchilada dinners come with 6 enchiladas while the chicken meal contains 5. All three of the enchalada varieties is served on a bed of Mexican rice.
The frozen dinners can be baked in a conventional oven or prepared in a microwave for 17 minutes. I prepared all three of the dinners in the microwave mainly because I wanted to see if preparing them in the microwave would cause the enchiladas to come out hard and chewy. The enchaladas cooked perfectly in the microwave oven. The shells were not hard or chewy but in fact quite soft. The echaladas also cooked quite evenly without any cold spots. Additionally, the enchaladas tasted great! I occasionally prepare enchalads at home using flour tortillas however these enchaladas from El Monterey tasted just as good if not better.
Out of all three of the enchalada varieties, my favorite was the cheese enchaladas. It had a great flavor, they weren't too spicy and the rice was also delicious.
I would definitely recommend purchasing a family size El Monterey enchalada dinner. It makes for a quick and great tasting dinner.
