____ Wipe down faucets, backsplash and counters. Put sink strainers through dishwasher cycle.
____ Move countertop appliances and clean counters.
____ Wipe out microwave, toaster and refrigerator shelves. Be sure to clean your range after each meal so spills don't cook on.
Bathroom
____ Wipe down counters, faucets, tub and shower walls and floor. Shine mirrors.
____ Change towels so they don't get musty.
____ Swish out toilet with bowl cleaner.
____ Sweep and mop the floor.
Bedroom
____ Dust surfaces and wash mirrors.
____ Change Sheets.
____ Vacuum.
Family Room
____ Recycle old newspapers. Sort through magazines and keep only the most current month or two in a basket.
____ Dust furniture, mantel and bookcases.
____ Vacuum.
Home Office
____ Toss flyers, shred credit card offers and stack magazines.
____ As bills arrive, log them into a chart with columns for amount due, due date and when it's been paid. You'll know what's due at a glance, plus have a reference of tax-deductible expenses.
Laundry Room
____ Use laundry Baskets instead of hampers. Why shift clothes from hamper to basket, then back to basket after they are washed?____ Fold or hang laundry as it comes out of the dryer to prevent wrinkling and reducing ironing.
*Cool Tip: Dust from top down. The dust falls on the floor so you can vacuum it up later

Better yet, have enough baskets to sort directly into the baskets - label each one with something sturdy and waterproof - permanent markers directly on baskets work great.
ReplyDeleteThen it is all pre-sorted when you have enough to run a full load.
Teaches the kids to sort laundry but you can still catch their mistakes.
