A Day in My Life

I was just talking with another mom the other day about my crazy life.  However, I wouldn't want it any other way.  So I thought I would share what a typical day and week looks like in my house.  I also would love to hear from all of you about what your days and week are like.

I have two children, one is 5th grade and one in 1st.  I wake up in the morning, let the dog outside, turn on the computer and make lunches while it boots up.  I have a laptop that on it's last legs so it takes a while to start up.

At 7:45 a.m. I send the husband off to work and wake up the kids. I make the kids their breakfast, feed the dog and then grab some toast as check my email.  At 8:25 a.m., I send the kids off to finish getting ready and at 8:35 a.m. we leave out the door for school.  We only live 5 minutes from school which is great!

I drop the kids off at school and then head home.  I take the dog for a walk and then sit down at the computer.  I check email and respond to anything pressing.  I then spend the next couple of hours posting to my blogs (I have three), participating in blog hops (which are so much fun), networking, advertising and answering emails.  Once I'm caught up with my morning blogging duties, I then see what articles are on my agenda for my freelance writing gig.  That usually takes me to about 1:30 p.m.  At this time, I spend a little time working on the built in entertainment center project we have going on.  I still have some sanding to do but I'm hoping it will be finished by mid November. I work on this until 2:25 p.m. which is then time to pick up the kids from the bus stop.  So I load the dog in the car, which she absolutely loves, and head off to pick up the kids.

Once the kids are home, they take a few minutes to decompress and have a snack and then it's time for homework.  My son, he's in 5th grade, always has a lot of homework.  I help my daughter with her homework, she's in 1st grade.  All homework needs to be finished by 4:30 p.m. because we have to get ready for our afternoon activities.  My son plays football and he has practice on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. My daughter has cheerleading on Monday and Wednesday and dance on Thursday and Friday.  I know this is so crazy. But the good news is that cheerleading and football practice are at the same place.

Okay so at 5:15 p.m. we're out the door.  While the kids are practicing, I catch up on some reading, I jot down ideas for future blog posts or go for a walk around the field for some exercise and to clear my mind.  We usually get home from practice on Mondays at 8:00 p.m.  That leaves enough time for a quick dinner (usually something that's been cookin' in the crockpot), baths and then off to bed.

Once the kids are in bed, it's blogging time again.  At this time, I prepare new posts, respond to new emails (you wouldn't believe how many emails I get in a day), set up blog hops and work on my ebooks.  However, I try to get to bed by 10:00 p.m.  In the past, I would stay up until 1:00 a.m. or 2:00 a.m. but that did nothing for me except wear me down and get me sick. So with that being said, I had to give myself a bedtime.  So off to bed I go and then whole thing starts again.

Even though this schedule is crazy, things will slow down around mid November when football and cheerleading are over.  Both of these demand a lot of time both during the week and on the weekends.  I spend almost the entire day on Saturdays at the football field because my daughter doesn't cheer for my son's team and they play at different times.  But they both love it so how can I say, "no."  Also I suppose my schedule wouldn't be so busy if I didn't blog BUT I love it and I'm addicted to it.  I love interacting with followers, readers and other bloggers.  I've been a work at home mom for 10 years and I need the interaction with other people.  So there you have it.  I would love to hear about your crazy lives too...

  2. I feel your pain. I have two boys both in sports and I take two online classes. Plus I am looking for a full time job. I love my blog though.

  3. As the kids get older the challenges are still there but there different. However, I think when they are babies it's more tiring because they need your constant attention. Even though life is crazy, it's better than when you have to constantly care for them and chase after them once they become mobile.

  4. I have a love-hate relationship with sports. It's unbelievable how competitive youth sports can get. I could write a whole blog on that subject. It's exciting to watch the kids play and see the enjoyment on their faces however just as quickly it can all to turn unpleasant if their team loses or mistakes are made. Are youth sports extremely competitive in all states?
